FAILING AT REALITY, 2007

Exhibition in Senko Studio, Viborg.
Collaboration with Aia Thorup.

The exhibition mimics different ways of trying to understand a place, in this case in the area of West Jutland, where I grew up. The personal relation (represented by my family in oversize flat figures), the shaping of the natural and cultural landscape (represented in a 6 m long photo collage as backdrop, 3D collages of houses, and a mobile of concrete bunkers), the verbal and metaphorical shaping of our understanding (represented by excerpts from “The Fishermen” by Hans Kirk), and the scientific (reprensented by the multicolored columns displaying the layers of soil in the ground).

All attempts to grasp reality seems to both complement each other and to fail in telling a whole story.
